PAPPY'S FUN CLUB
MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL 2008
What would you look for in a sketch comedy show
entitled Pappy's Fun Club? It's a cute title,
and you'd probably be expecting a silly, joyful
hour of fun and mirth. And the fun club delivers,
with relish.
Some of the sketches are fun enough on their
own, but the heartiest laughs come from the adorable
quartet's banter.
Recurring sketches involving an aggressive French
taxman are very funny. It's a lesson in dynamic,
vibrant onstage chemistry.
Ben Clark, Brendan Dodds, Tom Parry and Matthew
Crosby are clever young men, and they get to parade
this in wordplays and clever gags.
But they're not above parading around in underwear
either, and just as well, because that is when
they appear to have the most fun.
