EDINBURGH REVIEWS

-- Posted by brendan on Thursday, August 14 2008

The reviews are in! Here's what we've had so far:

THE SCOTSMAN, 14-Aug-08
"Despite a growing field of contenders, Pappy's Fun Club have almost certainly retained their title as the funniest sketch troupe on the Fringe."

THE LIST, 14-Aug-08
"The sleeper hit of 2007, PFC storm back with Funergy"

THE INDEPENDENT, 14-Aug-08
"Pappy's Fun Club are back with a fairly loveable, knockabout romp."

ED FEST MAG, 11-Aug-08?
This review is very difficult to sum-up in a single quote. So here's a few:
"an hour of sketched-based hilarity ensues, gaining momentum throughout"
"The sketches were of variable quality"
"the perfect way to spend an hour"

THREE WEEKS, 12-Aug-08
"Insanely inventive, the show powers itself with manic creative energy"

THE GUARDIAN, 12-Aug-08
"2008 finds them at the height of their fun-generated powers"

INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY, 10-Aug-08
"a feelgood Fringe favourite"

ONE4REVIEW, 10-Aug-08?
"I savoured every single moment that I spent in the fun club and the face ache I experienced for an hour afterwards was well worth it. An absolute must see."

CHORTLE, 7-Aug-08
"Though they come across as ridiculous fools, there’s a keen sense of structure and purpose behind what they do."

METRO, 5-Aug-08
"you really should see this"

THE TIMES, 4-Aug-08 (with Ivan Brackenbury)
"Patchy, but very, very likeable."

PFC WINS CHORTLE BEST SKETCH ACT AWARD

-- Posted by brendan on Tuesday, March 25 2008

Big thanks to everyone who voted for us in the 2008 Chortle Awards.

PFC walked away with a lovely piece of perspex labeled Best Sketch, Character and Variety Act. Finally the trophy shelf at Pappy Towers has something more illustrious to host than the bottle of strange tasting fruit wine Tom and Ben brought back from Austria.
